The Badeschiff. Berlin, Germany.

Badeschiff or “bathing ship” is the most unusual swimming pool in Berlin. It is an old cargo container converted into a pool on Spree River. During the summer it is an outdoor pool with the beach, bar and DJs. In the winter the whole thing is covered, and a few extra saunas are added.

Panet Raymond Beach House

Designed as a small beach retreat for a Portland family; the Panet Raymond Beach house embraces sweeping views of the Oregon Coast. Sitting amongst a row of houses which follow the Pacific City beach, the house appears to grow from the sand like the dunes which surround it. Yet, the sloping roof also gives an impression of the house bracing against the winter storms which blow in accross the Pacific.The stained concrete floors of the main living spaces are level with the sand outside, which when combined with the expansive glass wall, and the way the ceiling material seems to move through the glazing unobstructed, help to break down the definition between the interior spaces and the beach beyond.

Weiss Residence

This project provided the opportunity to design a compact residence with a strict budget for the architects daughter Anna and her husband J.R. The site is steep, a challenge the architect welcomes and articulates with precision. Further the house was built by the architect along with his daughter and son-in-law. The roof of the garage becomes a deck replacing the traditional front porch of a house and commands a view of Mt.Hood to the east. Upon entering the Foyer you have the option of ascending a stair supported at the wall on one side and wire cables on the other to the bedrooms and communal spaces or descending to the recreation room below. At the top of the stairs one finds the main upper level of the house filled with light and space.
