5 Cheap and Easy Ways to Decorate your Home This Holiday Season

Decorating your home can be fun and rewarding.

But it can also be expensive. If you do not watch it costs can escalate to alarming heights leaving you with an unfinished decorating job and a mountain of debts.

The holidays are fast approaching and we all want our homes to look festive. But at the same time you do not want to spend a fortune on decorations that you are only going to use for a few days.

Here are five cheap and easy ways to decorate your home this holiday season.

Recycle, recycle, recycle. Chances are you already have a lot of Christmas decorations collecting dust in the attic. So instead of buying new ones use what you already have. Take them out of their boxes and dust them off. Then find ways to mix and match them so that they will look good as new.
Choose a focal point. No matter how much we would love to decorate every inch of our homes, that is just not feasible. It would be better to select an area to beautify. It could be your entryway, fireplace or living room. Concentrating on one area will give your guests the illusion of an intricately decorated home. This way you will still get to beautify your home without going overboard and without spending as much on the decorations.

Choose a theme. Selecting one theme for your holiday home decorating will keep you from making impulsive purchases. It will also create a more harmonious and tied-together look.

Light it up. Christmas lights are a cheap and effective way of adding sparkle and holiday spirit throughout your home. They always seem to add fantasy and flair. Christmas lights are the secret to making simple holiday decorations look extraordinary.
Have fun with your Christmas tree. A Christmas tree is the number one symbol for Christmas. That is why when the holidays come around you can be sure to see a tree in almost every house. And the best way to make your tree stand out is to bedeck it with Christmas ornaments and lights. But some ornaments can be ridiculously expensive – especially if you buy the designer ones.

So instead of buying ornaments from home decorating stores or anywhere else, you can create your own. Simply purchase plain glass balls, glue, glitter and costume jewelry. Use the jewelry and glitter to decorate the glass balls, add a ribbon and hang them on your tree.

If you’re home decorating on a budget, you not only get to save a lot you can also have a lot of fun with your kids through this project too.
